Google still don't buy into RSS

Why Google is offering email alerts and not RSS feeds? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Now Google is expanding this approach to Groups as well.

If the attention economy is the natural economy of the net why the smart people at Google doesn’t get it? Are they not aware that the RSS phenomenon is eroding the volumes of web searches? I think they are.

RSS is getting face-time at the expense of search, eyeballs are moving from lists of search results showed by Google to the lists of feeds and posts showed by Bloglines, NetNewsWire, PubSub, …

Here at clipperz subscribing is today much more important than searching, it is actually the only way to follow news and conversations on the topics we care about.

Furthermore these are the same guys that developed AdSense for RSS feeds! They already know that money will come from that direction. But probably they are just waiting to launch the next big Google thing. And then today oddities will disappear in a completly reshaped information world.
